The practice of stretching dates back to ancient cultures. Stretching the body and its muscles is one of the best things we can do to nurture and maintain our health. As humans, our bodies instinctively crave to stretch and move. Stretching helps to loosen up our skin and soft tissues. It increases our blood flow and our range of motion. When done consistently, stretching can have benefits such as decreased muscle tension, decreased cognitive fog, increase in energy, improvement in sleep, and in appetite.

When we go through life's activities, obligations, and responsibilities without intentionally stretching the limbs that carried us through them, these activities and feelings stay stagnant in our muscles. Stretching is one way to self cleanse the emotional and physical energy pent up in our muscles.

All lifestyle changes don't happen overnight. They happen gradually with time, as your heart and head align with your desired lifestyle. If stretching is not already incorporated into your daily routine, try stretching twice a week. In an ideal world, stretching will find its way into your daily routine, but for now do what works for you!
